As a vice president and general manager at Wonder, Corinne brings a professional background that combines research for social change and the improvement of organizations’ operations systems.
Corinne’s experience as a Peace Corps volunteer in Lesotho was transformational. It raised questions about international development and equity, and she sought answers through an MA in Social Justice. As part of that advocacy-oriented graduate program, she spent eight months in Johannesburg, South Africa working with a social movement that demanded basic services for their community. Alongside young activists there, Corinne led a community-based research project to produce a booklet that could be used to advocate for better living conditions.
Corinne broadened her research and project management skills while working with Goodwin Simon Strategic Research, a public opinion research firm in Oakland, CA, on campaigns to bring about progressive social change.
Currently, she’s laying down roots back in the US after living in Southern Africa and Denmark for many years with her husband and two young kids.
Why are you a strategist for good?
“As a Peace Corps volunteer, I was faced with many questions about power, inequality, and injustice. Why are some people born into poverty and others into prosperity? How can this injustice be corrected? What role should advocates play in supporting marginalized people without denying them their voice? It’s important to me that the work I do continues to ask those questions and seek answers.”
What’s your superpower?
“Ruthless efficiency! My organizational and multi-tasking abilities have always been a strength, but becoming a mother took them to a whole new level. My goal is to keep everyone on task in loving and supportive ways, in my home and in my work.”
Who is your intellectual crush?
“Amy Goodman started rocking my world a couple decades ago, as I sought out stories in the media about people and events that were often overlooked. On days when I’m able to listen to Democracy Now, I find myself incredibly inspired by the activism and worldview that she helps promote. When I met her as a volunteer once, I was impressed by her kindness. I also got a photo with her!”
